Cultivating A Nicer Community

The Antioch Garden Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to community involvement, civic service, environmental and horticulture education. The club maintains several gardens in the Village of Antioch, provides holiday community decorations and awards horticulture scholarships to local students. Through our fundraising, the Antioch Garden Club makes donations to the Open Arms Mission Food Pantry, Penny Pines Forest restoration, Arbor Day tree purchasing and planting. Fun activities for all types of gardeners include monthly horticultural education program, annual garden walk, plant sale and field trips. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a beginner, there is always something to learn and grow.

Our Village Gardens

The Horticulture Committee promotes civic and environmental responsibility as it continues to nurture five Village gardens created and cared for by the Antioch Garden Club members.

The gardens are:

The Mini Park - A path way between Main Street and Toft Ave. in downtown Antioch.

The Blue Star Memorial Garden - The intersection of Main St. & Depot Rd.

The Berm Garden - The corner of Main St. and Orchard St.

The Seven-Sons Flower Tree Garden - On Orchard Street east of the Berm Garden, near the Skidmore Dive.

The Brad Ipsen Memorial Garden - On Orchard Street, between Berm Garden and Seven Sons Tree Garden.

Garden Club Awards

Many annual awards are presented by The National Garden Club, Inc. and The Garden Clubs of Illinois to recognize the outstanding projects and achievements of their chartered clubs and individual members. The Antioch Garden Club has been a consistent recipient of the highest awards for our work in Conservation and Horticulture, Arbor Day projects, Newsletter and Web Site creation, Flower Show Entries, Club Yearbook, and providing excellent educational programs each year. In 2012, the Village of Antioch Mayor L. Hanson presented a Proclamation of Appreciation to the Antioch Garden Club that expressed gratitude for the creation and maintenance of five vibrant gardens that our members have donated to the Village of Antioch. All these awards are evidence of our members’ pride and dedication to the Club motto: “Cultivating a Nicer Community”.
