Sharilyn Smoge, a floral designer of Northwinds Perennial Farms in Burlington, WI, showed us how to decorate for the holidays using natural elements. She brought in a lot of evergreen boughs, tree twigs, winter berries... and made several beautiful container designs that sure to spruce up the decor for holiday gardens and bring much life into the homes. We all learned something from this program and bring home fresh ideas for the holiday decorations.
The Antioch Garden's Club Feb 3rd 2014 program proved to be a most enjoyable evening when all its members and invited guests actually created their own Fairy Gardens and Terrariums. Tracy from the Burlington Garden Center was the inspirational guide who taught us te best way to create and maintain these delightful miniature winter gardens. The pictures below show how the AGC can help chase the winter blahs fron any gardeners/artisans evenings. Everyone who cam to this Feb. meeting, burdened with the winter blahs, left with warm happy smiles and their own beautifully created Fairy Garden or Terrarium

Many thanks to AGC member Kendall V. who hosted this garden party on August 19th, 2014 at her beautiful farm house. More than 25 members attended this country style summer social and very much enjoyed the delightful evening and fellowship at the event. Round tables complete with table cloths, fresh cut flower center pieces, elegant china dishes and silverware set up under the shade of an old oak trees. The weather was perfect. The food was delicious. David's Bistro very generously donated mostaccioli and meatballs for the main entree'. Thanks David for the wonderful food and support of our club. Everyone brought a side dish which included appetizers, a variety of salads, garden vegetables and desserts. The members enjoyed each others company and had a really nice time. The park like setting of the barns and fields, trees and flowers, was nature at its best! It's the perfect way to celebrate our club accomplishments of the past year and look forward to the new year. Thank you again Kendall for your hospitality and creating such a warm and welcome atmosphere for everyone. Below are a few candid pictures that were taken at the event by AGC member Carolyn Y.
Our September general meeting started with an awesome program "Cooking with Dressing and Sauces", presented by Meg Dahmer of Pigtale Twist. By using only the finest, freshest, local ingredients, she creates a low-calorie "magical festival of clean flavors". Meg provided many ideas and suggestions to help us serve quick with healthy meals. We all got to try different dressing and sauces and enjoyed her charming presentation. After the program, we had nice refreshments provided by the hospitality team. And a raffle drawing afterwards that included a beautiful orchid, a nice prune shear, a pot of Mums and Celosia, and a colorful doormat. Followed by the regular business meeting. Total more than 30 members and guests attended.
